Aim
  1. To explore experimental interpretation of art through moving image

Objectives
  1. To promote idea generation and construct mind maps
  2. To extend creativity thorough idea generation and construct storyboards
  3. You will examine the importance of planning and create an interpretation of a piece of art using moving image

Task 1
Peer group critique from the last session objectives, discuss, critique and evaluate  
 
Task 2
After watching the power point presentation, you are required to work in small groups to reinterpret an artwork, you are to create idea generation and a story board for your short film. You will include on your story board, shot angles, light sources and any potential art effects.
You will also need to consider feasibility and any restrictions you may encounter.
 
You will consider the following within your film:
  • Visualisation of objects
  • Camera Angles
  • Light source
  • Movement within film
  • Speed (movement)
  • Depth of Field
  • Back drops
  • Emotion
  • Part of you! (phycology)
  • Audience response
  • Colour, shape, line, contrast, texture, balance, composition etc.
  • What art techniques can you incorporate in your film

Task 3
In small groups use experimental thought, techniques and processes to create a short film

Proposal is…
3D Interpretation of the image using still shots, and moving image. Consider different angles to show emotion, power, movement, shapes, colour and lines
Experimental film shots on camera, consider art work on transparency such as mark making, oils on film. Think about your skills and generate ideas using your extensive knowledge of mixed media.

Proposal is… 1 minute film
Experimentation with texture, shapes and including a ‘viewer’
“the subject will represent the viewer looking at the piece” This will be filmed in a sharp cutting way

Michelle and Joanne Duchamp ‘Descending stairs No2’
Proposal is…
To create merged photographs and film to represent ‘motion’. The use of film with consecutive photographs pose by pose using shutter speed for slow motion. Will also experiment with animated gifs and sound track. Joanna will use charcoal within the composition, and Michelle will use textile

Aims
  1. To produce a professional report promoting the analysis of the impact of CAD on design crafts
  2. Conduct peer group critique to inform and professionally position a website
 
Objectives
  1. Participate in a group peer critique to discuss and evaluate task 1
  2. Conclude the analysis of your self-directed study based on pre-industrialisation to present day contemporary crafts. Task 2
  1. Develop a professional document containing the analysis of the impact of CAD on design crafts, incorporating the analysis of from your self-directed study. Task 3
 
Task 1 Group critique
  • Is your website fit for purpose?
  • Who is your intended audience?
  • What message has your website transmitted to a new first hit customer?
  • What other questions and or problems are you now thinking off?
  • How do you intend to solve these?

Task 2
Conclude the evaluation of your self-directed study from session 3. Look closely at these sub-headings, where do you think these sub-headings could be incorporated into your professional report? Remember any report should have an introduction.

  • Arts and crafts movement
  • Modern plastics
  • CAD and CAM
  • Technical advances in CAD and Cam
  • Cost, advantages and disadvantages of CAD CAM
  • Aesthetics of CAD CAM

Task 3
Produce a professional report based on CAD CAM within the context of design crafts. The sections of this report must include:
  1. A front cover
  2. A content page
  3. The Application of CAD within a contemporary design crafts context
  4. Key software that may be appropriate of ruse in a contemporary design crafts project
  5. An overview of the benefits of CAD
  6. Analysis of the impact that CAD has had on the contemporary design crafts industry
  7. Conclusion and recommendations for the use of CAD for the Project
 
Please read recommendations below:
You are encouraged to include drawings, images, graphics, chats and other material within your written report. Any material that is derived from to other sources must be suitably referenced
Remember to develop your report with an introduction, body and conclusion, developing your personal response to your findings.

Aims
  1. Be aware of the unit – class expectations
  2. Promote your own professional development through the use of a website build
  3. Develop an awareness of contemporary art practice through the introduction of soundscapes

​Objectives
Participate in a group peer critique and discuss the following:  
   
  1. Evidence and produce an evaluation of the assignments key expectations
  2. Are the websites you produced last academic year fit for purpose (do they transmit the message intention) and how can you improve your site this year?
  3. Promote interpretation through class exercises a piece of selected art given to you
  4. Discuss and record through evaluation evidenced on your blog accessibility in art
  5. Self-Directed study – Create a social media profile of:
  • Website
  • A YouTube Channel
  • Instagram, twitter or Facebook account These must be linked on your web page

Task 1
Each student to do the following exercise and not down 9 things listed below but keeping one item secret
  • Name 10 things you see in 30 (seconds deaf)
  • Name 10 things you feel in 30 (seconds mute)
  • Name 10 things you hear in 30 (seconds blind)
  • Each student to mime the one word they kept secret to the rest of group
  • Welcome to the world of accessibility, disability and learning difficulties.
 
Task 2
Discuss legality of discrimination (the equality act 2010)
Think about the world in general:
  1. Can an Autistic person see and hear in the same way as a none artistic person?
  2. Think about ADAH ‘standing’ around “reading” a piece of art
  3. Do blind people get brail and or even an interactive emotional sculpture
    What would happen if a blind person had an interactive piece of sculpture instead
  4. Can a person who cannot interact with art though a disability even be interested in art?
 
Task 3
Exercise one look at the images in small groups, describe them
  1. What do you see?
  2. Discuss the visual language?
  3. Discuss the meaning
  4. Sell this image to the next group without saying the name

Task 4
Plan an interactive soundscape using art work given to you
  1. Visualise a story board promoting your image in sound
  2. Problem solve how you are going to complete this task without anything other than a smart phone
  3. In your groups collect the sounds needed to promote your image
  4. In groups plan how you are going to present these to your peers without software
  5. Plan out who will play what
  6. How this will be timed
  7. Evaluate your work

Objectives Part A
  1. Participate in a group peer critique and discuss the following:
  2. Are the websites we are looking at fit for purpose (do they transmit the message intention)
  3. Produce and promote awareness using ‘Market place’ technique to deliver a presentation discussing the following:         
    Small groups to research the application of art through movement such as film         
    ​Research the following artists for an awareness of the medium 
  • Vito Acconci, Seedbed 1972 performance piece | Michelle and Gemma
  • Bas Jan Ader,  Im too sad to tell you (1971) conceptual artist | Joel and David

  2. Write a short paragraph on your blog and produce idea generation why these pieces are important to you
  3. Pick one specific piece
  4. Using this as a starting point, consider a story line that you can explore using a hand-held camera (phone) no longer than 1 minute

  1. Play sounds on the computer and screen capture using Quick time and then up load this to YouTube.
  2. Make a film (take sound into film editing software place an image on a new time line and share) upload to YouTube

Outstanding business 
You are promoting contemporary art and evidence through a website there is little of it.
  1. Gemma, Evaluated session but cannot find any file uploads of sounds or links to you YouTube channel
  2. Joel there is not enough evidence on your website to pass this unit.
  3. David there is nothing there at all to mark
  4. Joanna there is nothing to mark
  5. Michelle, you need to upload the examples of sound from practitioners Also, you need to upload or put a link on your site as example of the evidence you have created.
  6. Rachel blog is confusing but really good how you have put a link on to your new site.
    ​Good example of sound scape put on your blog so catches audience participation, Rachel put on your blog an evaluation under each sound scape as I do not know which part is part of the exercise is yours.
